Our History

Each door is an entryway. Some lead to the familiar. Others offer refuge from the ordinary, revealing a hidden world known only to those who seek it.

In 1889 the Old Amsden Bank was built for J. Amsden & Company at the site of the Old Watkins Tavern of Versailles, destroyed by fire years before. Located on South Main Street and designed by architects Aldenberg and Scott of Lexington, the building stands today as a memento of enduring American elegance.

Our Vision

Comprising 29 rooms, a craft distillery and steakhouse within the walls of that late 19th century structure, The Aldenberg Hotel embodies the grace and sophistication of its architects’ timeless vision.

Deeply ingrained in equine and bourbon culture, we honor our Kentucky roots while carving a path of our own, creating world-class experiences for the most discerning guests.

A space crafted for the present yet steeped in history, evoking lavish nights and rooms where whiskey was poured long before the Bourbon Boom.

Stay With Us

We invite guests to enjoy a new standard of classic American opulence, a level of hospitality found only in Kentucky, and commitment to detail you’ll only experience here.
